AY24/25 Sem 1 Tutor: Mr. Matt Assessment: - Intro ILA - ILA1, ILA2, ILA3, ILA4 - Design Thinking Journal Well, it is known that the grade you obtain is proportional to your effort. Clearly, I put in little effort. I was not even paying attention to what I was doing for each ILA to the extent that I realised we had to design one and only one product by the end of the semester. On the other hand, I was so blur (Singlish for being clumsy) and designed four different products for each ILA! For context, in each ILA (stands for individual learning activity), one is given some PowerPoint slides and he/she has to do something with it. Clearly, I am not familiar with the contents even after the semester ended since I rushed through each ILA in about 20-30 minutes. I did not understand the significance of this module at all — why would I waste my time on this when it could be better spent doing other activities in school, or life in general? Anyway, I have been hearing horror stories of this module (not sure if horror is an apt choice of word but whatever) so I had the S/U mindset even before matriculating. Having mentioned all the above, I would say that the tutorial classes were interesting, but not worth the commute to UTown and climbing up the spiral staircase. I remember the most interesting activity we had was as follows: given 20 circles, draw distinct objects that would come to your mind like a soccer ball, an orange, a clock etc. and we compared with different groups. It all started off with items which were simple to think like the ones mentioned, but when our tutor challenged us to be more creative, we had examples like an atom, and I remember dividing the circle into different sets and claiming that the geometric interpretation was the partition of a set! Anyway, I think I spent more time writing whatever that I wrote above as compared to the time I actually spent on this module (figuratively). Expected grade: ??? Final grade: D (very happy that I passed)
